A deck flush with the house

Two doors opened onto old steps down to uneven pavers, and the space had stopped being used. Now 30 m² of treated pine deck comes out flush with the house at 700 mm, so both doors open straight onto it, with every board cut to follow the existing framing.

Water first, then everything else

Water pooled at the front door in every downpour. We redefined the falls so the surface drains away from the house into a channel drain and cesspit, then laid 40 m² of Longburn pebble exposed aggregate, with 40 m of fence and raised Macrocarpa planters.
